Marcos Ambrose is a retired Australian professional racing driver who is best known for his success in NASCAR. He was born on September 1, 1976, in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia.
Ambrose started his racing career in his home country of Australia before making the move to the United States to compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series (formerly Nationwide Series) in 2006. He quickly made a name for himself as a skilled road course racer and earned his first career victory at Watkins Glen International in 2008.
Ambrose went on to win two more races at Watkins Glen in 2011 and 2012, solidifying his reputation as one of the best road course racers in NASCAR. He also competed in the NASCAR Cup Series, earning two victories and 18 top-ten finishes in his career.
In 2015, Ambrose announced his retirement from full-time racing and returned to his native Australia to focus on his family and other business ventures. He remains involved in motorsport as a team owner and has also worked as a television commentator for racing broadcasts.
